The Montevallo High School football team had a great season last year that was filled with many ups and very few downs. They are on track for another great season this year. Returning this season are Malik Inabinette at QB, JJ Evans at WR, Jemari Harris at WR, Jamrius Carter at WR, Xavier Bryant and Rankin Allen on the OL. On defense we return Jayvion Seay at LB, Cole Dennis on the DL, and Jamion Prentice at OLB.

Coach Wilcox has been very outspoken about the improvement of the football team and how hard work has paid off. “I have seen a lot of improvement, especially from some of our young guys that we are counting on to play big roles this year,” Coach Wilcox exclaimed taking pride in the team’s ability.

A quick drive past the Montevallo practice field allows fans to always spot the MHS football players working hard at practice.

These football games are not only about winning but about bringing the community together and working as a team while having fun.

“I enjoy being on a team where we all can work together to achieve the same goal,” says Rankin Allen, senior OL.

Home games allow the students to dress in spirit colors and the games bring people from around Montevallo. Everyone from alumni, to students to community members  come out to support the team. Win or lose, Montevallo can proudly say that the team spirit is one of the highlights of attending a game.

Many students have been waiting anxiously for the arrival of the first football and luckily, it is almost here. With the first football game happening this Friday Montevallo High School is gearing up for another great season. Montevallo’s first home game will be next Thursday, August 29, against Shelby County.
