Introducing Mr. Spencer

Niesha Piper and Tamyajah Sullens

This semester,  the senior class at Montevallo High School welcomed Christopher Spencer, a student teacher from the University of Montevallo. Mr. Spencer is from Hoover, Alabama. He grew up with his grandparents.

His grandmother is originally from France. She moved in her 20s. His granddad moved here from Italy when he was 23. Growing up they were really poor. His grandfather was in the Army and fought in the Korean war. While in the war he was shot in the knee, and during his hospital stay, he met a nurse that is now his wife. After meeting they moved to Montevallo.

He got his associate’s degree in history from Jeff State, prior to coming to Montevallo. He has lived in Montevallo for five years. He has a girlfriend named Amber and a cute dog name Rylo. He will be at MHS until the end of April. He will graduate with his master’s degree in secondary education.

He cannot obtain a job during his internship with edTPA. The internship program prepares students for teacher certification and it is very time-consuming. In order to have some income, he edits videos for youtube.

We hope that Mr.Spencer enjoys our senior class, as well as Montevallo High School as a whole. We wish him the best of luck in his future.
