Scholars bowl is a competition where they ask academic trivia questions and the participants have to answer them as quickly as possible. Last year from the Montevallo scholars bowl team Aiden Glenn was the top scorer overall in our school (Jv) and  Katie Ozley was overall for Varsity. Aiden Glenn also tied for 3rd place overall at the competition for JV. The JV team placed 3rd place at the competition last year. 

This year on Thursday, February 2, 2023 the Montevallo High School scholars bowl team competed against schools in Shelby County. This year’s scholars bowl team consists of 12 students sponsored by Mr. Martin and Mrs. Lusco. The scholars bowl JV team lost 5/5 rounds with Meredith being their top scorer. The varsity lost 4/5 rounds with Aiden Glenn being their top scorer. When asked Devin Colbert about his experience in scholars bowl he said, ” he enjoyed answering questions and had fun being with his friends”.  This is Devin’s first year on the scholars bowl team. 

When asking Mr. Martin, how can they improve for next year he mentions, “We have to start earlier and practice more outside of school”.  We are excited to see the scholars bowl improve next year and to see the outcome.
