Thanksgiving was first celebrated in November of 1789, when President George Washington named that Thursday as a “Day of Public Thanksgiving,” which was the first time it was celebrated under the new constitution and the harvest lasted three days long. This holiday shows a great amount of importance, which gives people an opportunity to express their gratitude to family and friends, to celebrate the harvest, and other blessings throughout the past year! Most people celebrate Thanksgiving by surrounding themselves with family and friends, and eat many home-cooked foods to show thanks to not only their personal blessings, but to the thank God for giving the American people an opportunity to create the constitution and for the freedom of America!
Even in the darkest times of our lives, we can still find things to be thankful for, even if it is hard to accept. There are plenty of things to be thankful for! As long as you have a positive mindset, all of the blessings you have will become apparent and giving thanks will become easier than you would believe! As this national holiday approaches us, we are to give all of our thanks to our family and friends, not only on this special day… but every day as well! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
