The community of Montevallo celebrated 200 years with a Bicentennial Birthday Celebration, Saturday morning, September 9, at Orr Park.

“We have such a diverse community, this event has brought all different kinds of people all ages all generations from different pockets of Montevallo together,” mayor Hollie Cost said.

This celebration included live music; vendors selling items such as jewelry, crafts, and shirts; and fair like rides including a rock climbing wall and bungee trampoline.  There was also car show.

Montevallo High’s Future Educators were at the event.

“The city came out and requested our help to be here so we have actually been planning this event since May,” FEA sponsor Dawn Cabrera said.

The FEA set up games and activities for the children.  These games and activities included a frisbee toss, face painting, pick the duck and a ball toss.

“I enjoyed today because I got to see all the families come out and see all the kids play the games,” senior Madison Childress said.
