Students usually lose motivation and interest when coming back to school from Christmas break. Knowing that you are halfway done with the school year, it is totally normal to feel unmotivated and have the desire to do nothing. I think I can proudly say that each high school student has felt this way at least one time in their years. There are many ways to try to remain motivated. Yes, it is difficult but it is very much achievable.
Demotivation can lead to lack of interest in school, which can lead to bad grades, which can lead to issues in your extracurricular activities, which can then lead to a negative image of yourself to those around you. One good way to remain motivated is to set achievable goals. Goal setting is a vital part to success and takes a lot of work, but it is so rewarding in the end. Another way to remain motivated is to give yourself a break. If you’re constantly working hard, you’re more likely to lose motivation quicker. Giving yourself a break is very important; However, you cannot allow that to be an excuse for procrastination. You must still work hard in everything you do, but giving yourself grace is important. Finally, giving gratitude is important. Looking back on your day and giving thanks to the life we have been given, can lead to a feeling of thankfulness and could possibly change your perspective on certain things!!
As a senior, I can proudly say that working through the times of boredom, stress, anxiety, etc. has been so rewarding and will be even more rewarding when I walk across the stage on May 19th. Knowing that I graduate high school in 105 days is insane, and I know all of my hard-work has paid off. I know everyone is capable and has the ability to be successful, you just have to want it :))
