MHS students visit MES for Read Across America

Siara Kennedy, Reporter

Montevallo High School students and athletes are visiting the Montevallo Elementary School students to read books to them for Read Across America. Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. It is a motivation to our children and teens through events, partnerships, and reading resources.

MES Librarian, Andrea Lackey, says that Read Across America Week to her is, “a week to celebrate the love and joy of reading! It is a time where people of all age ranges come together and read books they enjoy. I truly believe Reading is for Everyone and Everyone Can Learn to Love Reading!” Lackey believes that “what started out as Dr.Seuss Week and celebrating his birthday has blossomed into a NationWide Celebration of Books!”

At Montevallo, we love the celebration of learning and reading! Our MHS students and athletes are continuing to spread the love of reading to their younger peers and hopefully enlight the MES students to continue reading!
