This Friday, on February 10th, the Jazz Band will perform a concert in Montevallo High School’s Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 7:00 p.m. The cost to attend this event is free, but donations are accepted at the front door.

Ken Peplowski, the famous American jazz clarinetist will also be performing. The band will be led by Mr. Hodges, the high school Band Director, and will feature Ken Peplowski himself. Mr. Hodges said “I am truly excited for this, Ken’s been a hero of mine since I started playing in middle school.” The students will get to rehearse with Mr. Peplowski for multiple days leading up to the performance. This will be a great opportunity for our music students to witness first hand just how well a professional of Ken’s caliber plays. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions that they have been coveting to ask. Ken has made a career playing jazz around the world with many artists including Benny Goodman, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Tommy Newsom, Mel Torme, Steve Allen, Bobby Short, Madonna, Rosemary Clooney, and many others. This is truly an exciting time for Montevallo and definitely a date to put on your calendar.
