Hispanic Heritage Month at MHS

Javon Rogers and Tyler Gentry

The month of September is Hispanic Heritage Month and we want to celebrate it at Montevallo High School!

Hispanic Heritage month is annually celebrated from September 15th to October 15th in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States.

The MHS Spanish teacher, Senora Carlos, gave her take on our school recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month  mentioning how it “makes me very proud that the school is getting involved and giving Hispanics recognition.”

We also got input from Diva Espinoza, an 11th-grade student at MHS, she thinks it “feels nice to be appreciated and it is a nice gesture that our school is open to other cultures that are a big part of what America is now”. Another 11th-grade student Cristian Leon said, “ It’s good to know that Montevallo is appreciative of the different cultures and takes the time to show others our heritage.”

We are glad to acknowledge the Hispanic culture and spread awareness throughout our school,
