Montevallo FFA visit national convention

Montevallo Future Farmers of America’s Officer team attended the FFA National Convention on October 30th through November 1st. The officer team includes, Student Advisor Polly Holsomback, President Taylor Edwards, Vice President Savannah Rodgers, Secretary Kinley Edwards, Treasure Daniel Campbell, Historian Hayden Dennis, Reporter Avery Lawley and Sentinel Tucker Edwards, Chaplin Caleb Johnson. The 92nd National FFA Convention was held in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Lucas Oil Stadium. There were people from all over the United States at this event. 

10th grader Tucker Edwards said “It was so neat to see so many people from all over the US all coming together to share a common passion.” 

While in Indiana, they attended several conferences with guests speakers which included, Bob Goff, The National FFA Officer Team and many others.They also got extraordinary seats at the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo and Brett Young concert. The FFA National also had attractions setup all around Indiana including the Traders Point Creamery and another career development event.

President Taylor Edwards said,  “I enjoyed the trip so much! As a group we grew closer than I ever imagined we would be, makes me sad to know I’ll be leaving these people shortly. We also made lifelong connections with new people from all over the US and created a once in a lifetime memories that will last forever.” 

Ashton Cottingham is the Student Advisor for the FFA club at Montevallo. Cottingham has been teaching agriculture for five years. This is his second year at Montevallo and he has already done so much for our agricultural department and the FFA. Cottingham said he “enjoyed the round table discussions and the leadership seminars that we attended.” 

Montevallo FFA had a great time at the National Convention. They made memories that will last them for a long time. They learned so many new things and are looking forward to next year!
