MHS held its yearly FAFSA meeting to help students apply. FAFSA is a free application form completed by students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. On October 23, 2019 Montevallo High School was offering help to any student in need of help in applying for FAFSA in the Montevallo High School library. Our school’s counselors, accompanied by another teacher, were there to help each student individually. Each student was given a pass with the time and date of their appointment to meet in the library. The meetings were a one on one discussion with the help of our counselor or a teacher. The students were given a set of directions on what to bring and what to expect. Students seemed to appreciate the help on the FAFSA process at school.

Tamyjah Sullens said she “found the meeting very helpful and [she] got a better understanding of how the process works. Mrs Allen and another teacher were there explaining and helping me go through the steps to register.”

Javion Seay also stated, “The meeting helped me a lot and I think I would have struggled more if I hadn’t signed up. Mrs. Allen helped me step by step and explained the instructions. I recommend the upcoming seniors to sign up next year so they can also get the help Mrs. Allen is offering.”
