The Montevallo High School softball team held its tryouts this week. After a successful season last year, this year’s team has big shoes to fill. Assistant Coach Kaycee Tyson-Goetz says she is “really hoping for us to improve this year coming back. We have a lot more ninth graders signed up and hopefully we’ll be able to fill up our infield this year.” She is also looking forward to seeing the leadership of her seniors for this coming up season. During tryouts she is looking for girls who are coachable. Coach Tyson-Goetz looks for the attitude for her players and “if they’re coachable, saying, “As long as you’re coachable, we can teach you what we need to teach you.” Coach Tyson-Goetz expects her players to come out with a good attitude.

Junior Erin Dukes is trying out for her second season on the team. She is most excited about “learning new things and meeting new people.” As a junior this coming up season she is working on taking more leadership throughout the season. Dukes expects the team to “work together more and talk.” When asked what her personal goal for the season was, she stated that she wants to “hit more dingers.”

Good luck and Go Lady Dawgs!
