Senior Athlete Voices
September 2, 2022
Being a senior athlete is such a bittersweet experience. At MHS we like to recognize a few of our seniors and their journey through their final years playing sports at MHS.
Montevallo’s football team started their season last Friday against Shelby County. Our team had a rough start, but senior Brantley Burk believes he can lead his team to success by, “not slouching in practice, it causes the team to do the same, as well as me bringing energy down because we do not get as much done.” Senior, Jaylon Hudson, adds on to believing the steps our football team needs to improve in the future all has to do with our seniors who, “need to step up and take assertiveness in the team and practice how we play.” The MHS football team will face Hale County for Senior Night this Friday at home at Theron Fisher Stadium. Come out and support our Bulldogs!
Montevallo’s volleyball team has started their season off with three strong wins, one of those being a win against our rival, Calera. Two of the many seniors on our team, Emily Gallagher and Phoenix Dixon voiced on continuing to make their last season memorable. Emily Gallagher wants to assert herself as a leader to, “make sure we are encouraging towards each other and lift each other up and keeping the positivity is essential on the court.” Senior Phoenix Dixon totally agrees with Emily while feeling, “excited and motivated to put my all on the court every single game and leave it all on the court. Although it is sad, I am happy we have a lot of seniors on the team so we can exit together.” Our girls will continue their season this Tuesday, facing Shelby County at home. Wish our volleyball girls good luck against the wildcats!
Show love to our Bulldogs for their upcoming sporting events and our seniors last ride at MHS. Go Dawgs!
