The Montevallo Troubadours kicked off the 2018  marching season as the first band to perform in the annual Shelby County Showcase of Bands, Monday, Sept. 17 at Helena High School.

“I think we did the best that we could with the time we had to prepare,” auxiliary sponsor Dawn Cabrera said.

The Troubadours performed their 80’s Mixtape Show. The performance includes 80’s classics such as, “Jump” by Van Halen, “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer, “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley, and “Take on Me” by A-Ha.

“My favorite song to play this year is ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ because the trumpet section of the song is challenging yet fun,” sophomore trumpet player William Landers said.

In addition to the Troubadours, the Vincent, Shelby County, Chelsea, Calera, Helena, and Oak Mountain bands performed their half-time shows as well.

After the schools performed, all the bands gathered on the field for a final performance of “America the Beautiful”.
