In a back and forth battle, the Boys Varsity basketball team defeated the Bibb County Choctaws on the road by two points, 53-51

Coach Dickinson’s Bulldogs came out sluggish resulting in a 12-19 score at halftime. “Our effort was lacking, but I still felt like we had the upper hand,” Dickinson said.

The next two quarters were hard fought. Although the Bulldogs were still trailing in the third quarter, leadership from an all-senior starter team kept Montevallo motivated to end the quarter just one point behind Bibb County, 36-37.

The Dogs were able to pull ahead in the fourth quarter to take a five point lead and able to hold off the Choctaws with a final score of 53 to 51.

“I’m just proud of my guys,” senior Daquarius Anderson said. “We just had to trust in each other and that’s how we got this win.”

Senior Te’ Smith finished the game with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Senior Treshawn Brown contributed with eight rebounds to hold the Choctaw’s offense to a minimum. Anderson also had a double figure scoring night finishing with 12 points.

“We played really good defense, which helped us a lot in this win,” junior Daqwan Bryant.

Bryant had 8 points for the night

The Bulldogs will face the Choctaws again at home, Saturday, Jan. 21.
