Montevallo’s Bulldogs got their first loss of the season on the road, Friday, Oct. 14, losing to the Gordo Greenwave, 21-56.

“Tonight we let the game be bigger than it should have been,” head coach Brandon Wilcox said. “To win big games you have to attack it one play at a time. You can’t go in and try to do to much too early or the game can overwhelm you. We will learn from tonight and be better for it down the road. They always say, you are never as good as you look or as bad. I believe that this football team is a lot better than what we showed tonight!”

Gordo had an early attack on Montevallo holding the score to 56-7 at the half. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second half, but the damage had already been done.

Senior Zac Oden completed 14 of 38 passes for 211 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Sophomore Tyler Olds had 8 rushes for 36 yards with 1 touchdown. Senior Tre’Shawn Brown had 6 catches for 116 yards. Freshman Davion Gilbert had 2 catches for 56 yards with 2 touchdowns.

Montevallo is currently without five starters that have all been lost to injury, including wide receivers/defensive backs juniors Ahmad Edwards and Tavarius Holman. As well as linemen senior Matthew Allen and junior Taylor Hall.
