Andrew Zow’s Bulldogs suffered a tough loss to the Trinity Wildcats, 0-41, Friday Sep. 14.
“Despite the lopsided loss, the team showed signs of improvement and resilience throughout the game,” defensive coordinator Trey Simpson said.
While Montevallo held Trinity to only one field goal in the first quarter, the Bulldog defense could not hold up in the second quarter, giving up 21 points.
Things did not get better for the Bulldogs in the second half, as they gave up an additional 17 points.
Senior Trevor Chatham completed 4 of 11 passes for 40 yards.
“We could have done better offensively,” Chatham said. “We should have done a better job protecting the ball.”
Senior Korey Cunningham led in receiving yards with one carry for . Freshman Ty Evans led in rushing with 52 yards on 2 carries.
“It felt good going in and I felt like we had a good plan, but we didn’t execute the plan,” Zow said. “It’s a game that we must bounce back from.”
The Bulldogs will face the Tarrant Wildcats tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Theron Fisher Stadium.
