It’s been a great start to the school year! MHS Spotlight talked to a few students and got their feedback on the first week of school.
Senior Emily Pennington said this about her first week of school, “My first week of school has been busy. Before dual enrollment and AP classes get really serious, I have been filling out scholarships and college applications as well as getting my club started. Just getting back into a routine of school, work, homework, and extracurricular activity.” I asked how she felt about it being her last year she said that she was excited. She knows what she plans to do after graduation and has been preparing for that change. For her, it’s sad to leave the place and people that she has become accustomed to, but she is excited to see what the future has to hold for her.
Junior Christian Diaz said that his first week was great and that he enjoyed it a lot. He is glad that he got to see a lot of familiar faces, he’s also looking forward to the school year. I asked Christian what he was looking forward to this year, and he said “The soccer season because we have a good squad.” He thinks that they can go pretty far in the playoffs this year.
Sophomore Aubrey Moran said her first week of school was good and she is officially a little scared of Coach Grayson but she will be okay. I also asked her if she thinks this year will be easier than last year and she said “I think this year will be a little harder because I’m in AP and Pre-AP classes but I’m still excited for school and this year.”
Freshman Alonnie Holloway said that the first week of school was better than she thought. She said, “It was a lot quicker and easier.” When asked what she liked better about MHS over MMS she said, “I like the process of school better than the middle school. We also have a better dress code than them.”
Hopefully, the rest of the year will go just as smoothly!
