The Montevallo High School Marching Troubadours have been a successful part of the school for many years. Receiving awards and honors in all of the competitions they always bringing home good rankings. The Troubadours show no signs of slowing down.
This year they have competed in three different competitions. Two of the competitions include the Lake Guntersville Marching Festival Oct. 1 and the Mud Creek Marching Festival Oct. 8.
The band’s halftime show has a loosely Latin based theme this year. The songs include Cuban Coffee, Dsumba, Dynamite, and Malaquena.
“Friday nights are a blast,” senior Keelon Bunn said. “Half time is game time for the band.”
The band director is Perry Lawley who has been here at Montevallo High School for four years and is a graduate of MHS as well. The drum major, Alex Peete, former trumpet player for the Troubadours, has taken over the band this year and has made it an interesting yet enjoyable show to watch.
The flute players consist of senior Cassie Cabrera, freshman Alex McCurdy and eighth grader Jonathan Perkins. Clarinet players include sophomores Mace Wilder and Xan Shivers; and eighth graders Alice Evans, Claire Gray, Devin Doriety and Maggie Glover.
The alto saxophonists comprise senior Bunn, sophomore Zach Cox, freshman Ryan Howard and eighth grader Jesse White. The tenor saxophonists include junior Trenton Johnson and freshman Gregory Spence. The trumpet players are sophomores David Ikard, Horacio Martinez and Chris Seeboth; freshmen Gabe Bridges and Dylan Sanders; and eighth grader C.D. Lawley.
Trombone players include sophomore Brantley Evans; freshmen Sam Hudson and Cameron Cummings; and eighth graders Bryant Nolen and Dustyn Franklin. Baritone musicians are sophomores Kenny Oswald and Stephen Gilbert. The tuba players include sophomore Jake Pierce and freshman Kenneth McCutcheon. The percussion section consists of junior Austin Sanders; sophomores A.J. Green and Christian Rutledge; and freshman Blake Cox.
The band is accompanied by three auxiliary teams, which include the majorettes, color guard, and dance line.
The majorettes are sophomores Jasmine Young and Captain Maddie Phillips; and freshman Karli Broadhead.
The color guard team is comprised of seniors Captain Brianna White and Kym Parker; sophomores Gabby Brandenberg, Natalie Holsomback and Heather Wallace; and freshman Lupe Serrano.
The dance line members are senior Captain Kayla Cunningham, Brianna Champion and Sherrel Keith; juniors Haley Carlee, Ebony Smith and Taylor Worthey; and sophomore Jessica Davis. The auxiliary sponsors are Dawn Cabrera and Kathy Cunningham.
